BB Blogger Retreat Recap!

We are so sorry that some of you had serious injuries, came down with the flu, broken femur, etc. (that’s the only reason you would have opted out of the fun right?) If you missed the BB Blogger Retreat, we are going to give you a little update of what happened this weekend! We honestly could not have been happier with how our retreat turned out and the amazing #BBBossBabes that were able to be there with us! As we reflected back on the retreat we thought we would share our 6 BB Blogger Retreat Takeaways! That way you wouldn’t have to miss a little bit of Bri & Britt!

1. Making lasting friendships in 3 days is possible!

One of our biggest concerns about the retreat was that a group of girls could either mean an amazing, uplifting, weekend or… the exact opposite.. We were lucky enough to have some of the most amazing, talented, kind, and genuine women at our retreat. It was inspiring to watch women of all ages and personalities come together to cheer each other on, lift each other up, and create memories for a lifetime.

Never forget, life is not a competition! There is room for everyone! There was never a moment of jealousy or superiority among these girls. Everyone was seen as an equal and we were able to all grow so much because of that.

2. Being comfortable with who you are!

It felt like we watched caterpillars crawl out of their cocoon and spread their butterfly wings overnight! The first day of the retreat, so many of the girls felt uncomfortable and awkward in front of the camera. They would say things like, “I don’t even know what to do, I hate pictures of myself,” or “don’t watch me it’s embarrassing.” Yet, by day 3 we had girls running ladders across a busy crosswalk in SLC to get the shot they wanted. Our hearts were so proud!! These girls gained the confidence they needed to see their awesomeness and forget what anyone else might say or think.

We talked a lot about finding your style, deciding what you want, and forgetting what anyone else says. If you are comfortable in your own skin, you can rule the world. Just because someone else has 4 inch heels on, doesn’t mean you need to if you prefer Nike’s. Be unapologetically you!! That is why people follow you and that is why you do what you do. Don’t change for anyone, because once you start, it will be hard to find yourself again. Pose in the middle of the street (as long as there are no cars), lay on the ground to get the shot, dance your heart out in line for dinner. Do it all for you and no one else.

3. Everyone has something to offer

We were so inspired, enlightened, and lifted this weekend! We went into the retreat planning to teach these bloggers a thing or two that we knew would help them grow and reach their goals. The funny thing is, we’re pretty sure we ended up learning more than anyone! Because our group was so open and comfortable with one another, everyone was much more willing to share their opinions and knowledge no matter who it was. It truly doesn’t matter what level you are at. Chances are that amazing brain of yours holds some bit of information that somebody around you is dying to know. So share! Don’t ever feel inadequate! There are a million ways to do things and one size does not fit all. Never be afraid to speak up and share that brain with people. We all have something to offer, so offer it!

4. When it comes to social media, Don’t put all your eggs in one basket

Social Media is an amazing tool to bring traffic to your blog or other platform! We are all involved in social media one way or another and it is an amazing tool to truly capitalize on. However, we need to remember that times change and so do people's’ interest. So that means, one day you could be the Selena Gomez of instagram and the next, your Aaron Carter after 2004.. The important thing to do is utilize your blog! Whatever social media platform is big at the time may die, but your blog literally can’t! Attract all social media platforms to your blog to keep lasting “followers”.

5. How to pick brands that are right for you and your market

It is so important that, when choosing to work with brands, you pick the ones that are right for you and will resonate with your influence! Be selective about your brands, so that they are also able to capitalize on a target market! We are both from Utah and we were able to work with local companies and brands that can utilize our audience because of the concentrated influence we have in Utah! Not only are these brands some of our favorite places, but they were so amazing to work with us on throughout this retreat!

Lilian & Co.: We all got the most adorable matching bracelets that we all got to wear on the retreat! They have beautiful bangles with the sweetest inscriptions. Check them out for a little inspiration on your wrist!

Purple Elephant Apparel: This printing company made us the cutest T Shirts with the BB Blogger logo on them! We couldn’t be more happy with the way they turned out and how all the BB Boss Babes paraded Salt Lake City in our adorable matching shirts, and it’s all thanks to them!

SugarPop Nails: If you haven’t been, you need to check out SugarPop for a day of pampering! We got some fun nails done there that we all absolutely loved! We had the most amazing nail artists, Jenna and Katherine!

Costa Vida: A Utah Favorite! All the heart eyes for Costa Vida! This classic Mexican style restaurant was such the perfect lunch spot in Draper, UT our first day! We loved the Sweet Pork Salad! Check them out!

SlapFish: We were spoiled! SlapFish let us try so many dishes on the menu and none of them disappointed! Bri loved the fish taco and Britt was dying over the Lobster Grilled Cheese!

Kneaders: The perfect place for a casual meal with some BB Boss Babes! Kneaders is a soup, sandwich, salad style restaurant that you will love and don’t forget to try their pastries! We love the raspberry bread pudding!

Zao Asian Cafe: If you haven’t been to Zao you need to check it out! We visited the Lehi, UT location and absolutely loved it! So many delicious dishes that are also really good for you too! We tried the vegetarian rice bowl with yellow curry and it did not disappoint!

6. Go and Do! Set Goals

We were all able to learn so much at this retreat! Everyone left with a new energy to create a life they were excited to live! However, the key now is to DO IT. Learning is so important, but ultimately, you will never get anywhere in life if you don’t implement the things you learn. It is so important to set goals that will help you do this. Is your goal to start a blog? Make money on your social platforms? Or just have a fun feed? Having goals will direct your actions. Don’t be afraid to fail! You have no idea how many times we have failed ourselves, but we get up, dust ourselves off, and try again. If we had let failure stop us, we would have given up years ago. Find what you are passionate about, discover what works for you, and go get it!

We had so much fun hosting this BB Blogger Retreat! We look forward to hopefully doing one again soon! Those of you who are out of state, out of country, or just out of town! We are working on a project, so that no matter where you end up, you won't ever have to miss all the juicy blogger deets! Until then, subscribe to be notified about next weeks post!
